Learning Objectives
- Describe the biochemical functions of fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K) and their deficiency diseases
- Describe the biochemical functions of water-soluble vitamins (B-complex, C) and their deficiency diseases prevalent in India
- Explain how each vitamin's mechanism of action underlies the clinical features of its deficiency
- Assess nutritional status using dietary history, anthropometry, and specific biochemical markers
- Describe dietary reference intakes and national nutrition guidelines relevant to Indian populations
INSTRUCTIONS
This module is divided into fat-soluble vitamins (Part 1) and water-soluble vitamins (Part 2). The Indian deficiency context is emphasised throughout. Estimated time: 55 minutes.
